It was 75 years ago that the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949 was passed, securing access for everyone to the open countryside, while also preserving and enhancing its natural beauty.

To celebrate this milestone, we want you to Show Us Your 75. Whether that's doing a 7.5 mile walk along your favourite National Trail, spending 7.5 minutes watching birds on your favourite patch or capturing 7.5 seconds of your favourite view in and around our wonderful Protected Landscapes. Whether you wheel or walk, ride or run, we want to know about it.

Polly Martin, CEO of National Trails UK, said: “We really want to see how you enjoy these beautiful networks, and the anniversary is the perfect excuse to see why people hold these routes so close to their hearts.

“The act was created for both people and nature, and it's as vital now as it was then. We need nature and it needs us. Let's show some love for our glorious green and beautiful blue spaces by getting out and celebrating them. Capture your achievements and adventures and post on socials using the hashtag #ShowUsYour75.”

And to show her commitment, our CEO Polly Martin is marking the occasion by cycling, running and walking 75 miles in 24 hours in September while fundraising for National Trails UK ,National Landscapes Association and National Parks England. To donate please visit her page on GiveStar
